In this two-part session, corporate board members and c-suite leaders share what long-term, generational changes looks like through the movement from supplier diversity to business diversity.
Part one of the discussion features an interview by CNBC TechCheck anchor, Dierdre Bosa with NBC Universal News Group chair, Cesar Conde and president and co-CEO of Ariel Investments, Mellody Hobson. During this enlightening conversation, Conde and Hobson share their experience with corporate boards and advice for moving them to fully engage in business diversity. They also explain how focusing on business diversity and supporting traditionally disenfranchised communities is not only the right thing to do but also the smart business decision.
In the second half of this session, chairman, co-CEO, and chief investment officer of Ariel Investments moderates a discussion between Target Corporation chief legal officer, Don Liu; Lincoln Financial chief operating officer; Ed Walters; and Lenovo North America chief marketing officer, Gerald Youngblood share their professional journeys, challenges to building and scaling minority owned businesses in the U.S., and how they’ve helped overcome those challenges to advance greater business diversity in their companies. They also echo the lessons shared by Conde and Hobson about the importance of strong board leadership to advancing this work.
