Dear NMSDC Stakeholder,
The time to act is now. As NMSDC moves into its next 50 years of service, it is clear the needle has not moved far enough toward economic equity. We must disrupt the status quo and take the bold, decisive action needed to accelerate the growth of our certified-MBEs. Only then can we become the leading change agent for advancing true economic equity in our nation.
As you may know, to do this we are fundamentally transforming our organization. Because we’re all in this together, I want to provide you with an update regarding our 2023 Transformation Roadmap and how you can provide pivotal feedback and help along the way.
Over the past year, we have laid the groundwork for this much-needed transformation. As I shared during my State of NMSDC address back in November, transforming NMSDC and the network is essential if we are going to remain the primary growth engine for minority-owned businesses and reach our goal of $1 trillion in annual revenue for NMSDC-certified MBEs.
Thanks to the valuable work of all of you who participated in the January strategy session in Miami and direction from the NMSDC board of directors, we now have a collaborative plan for moving phase one of this transformation forward.
Phase one of NMSDC’s evolution kicks off this month with three activation sprints:
- Certification: develop a “hybrid” certification implementation plan that effectively uses resources and technology and harnesses the unique strengths of both the national office and regional councils to deliver consistent, efficient, and modernized certification services to our MBEs.
- Membership: define a future state membership model that maximizes value to corporate members and provides network sustainability.
- Services: confirm service offerings, roles and responsibilities, and success measurements, and create a multi-year service enhancement launch plan and a 2023 priority service plan.
To achieve these activation sprints, three teams (one for each transformation area) made up of individuals representing some of the best and brightest from the network (regional council presidents, board chairs, corporate members, MBEIC chairs, NMSDC national office executive leaders, and NMBEIC leadership) will meet, discuss, and offer recommendations over the next two months. These activation teams are offering their recommendations as representatives of their peers and in the interest of adding value for our members. In addition, we will continue our efforts to implement a technology solution that will enable us to fully leverage the results of this work through better technical support of certification, membership, and services while also enhancing customer experience and protecting the data entrusted to us by our clients and customers.
As we begin this transformational work, we want to pause and ensure we address any questions you may have. You can make your voice heard by completing the online survey below and/or by attending our upcoming Transformation Plan webinar on March 27 from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. ET.
